    This is a bit superficial, but having BLÅHAJ in the name is a major plus for me 🦈🦈🦈

    (Also no tankies here)

    Edit: The original r/196 mods also linked to this instance (see https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/91174, may need the WayBack Machine/Internet Archive).

    I think they did this for two reasons:

    1. This 196 already has more users
    2. BLÅHAJ just fits 196 better than “.world”

    Since the fediverse is supposed to be decentralized, I guess it makes sense to put communities where they fit best;

    And I for one just think this place is here. 🦈

  • What does it mean if I can’t access the lemmy.world and blahaj.zone communities from the instance I’m on? I can’t log in there either. This is confusing.

      Turns out you have to enter !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone in the search bar of your instance first. Once that’s happened it should all work seamlessly.

    I think most users are already flocking to the instance on lemmy.blahaj.zone but I’m not aware what are the problems with the servers over there? Aren’t the admins going to upgrade them eventually?

      At least for me the site seems very unresponsive right now, new posts aren’t loading correctly and I’m getting timeouts (probably just overloaded).

      As far as I’ve read lemmy.blahaj.zone was originally just a personal testing site for its owner so that’s why I’m concerned that the server load would be too much, no idea how high the costs would be if they kept up with the demand.

      The lemmy.world owner already has experience with hosting https://mastodon.world so I would expect this instance to continue to be able to keep up.

      ig crossposting is the best approach for now until things settle…

        it is holding up surprisingly well, though I am definitely experiencing issues.
