Monday is here. Back to work, or maybe not?

Looks like Lemmy.world had some external “issues” earlier, I logged on to post at 4.30 this morning and was greeted by “Site taken down by Reddit” (lol). Looks like the nasty hacker types have been evicted.

What are you looking forward to (or dreading) this week?

S.O. is back to work. Kids are in summer club for the first time since the holidays started. So in theory this should be a great day. However, my ADHD has locked me in a holding pattern. I think I’m going to try mediating, then making an espresso, and finally throwing rocks into a skip. Hopefully I can achieve one of those things.

I’ll be covering for an ex colleague who left, for a couple of weeks. Work hired my best mate as their replacement though, so will be working with them soon, which is exciting!

Yeah for sure! Saved work doing a recruitment campaign and I get to work with someone who I know and trust, and have worked alongside professionally for about 10 years anyway! Win win for everyone

Well it’s quarter to one in the afternoon and I’m really only just getting going for the day. That’s not great, productivity-wise, but on the other hand the house is like a sauna again so I can’t entirely be blamed.

Bit gutted today because the new next door neighbours that we were hoping to make friends with…turns out one of their dads went to school with my other half. So I guess first off we’re too old to be their friends, but also being in a small town means literally any interaction we have with them will get passed on to their dad, then to our neighbours over the road due to their daughter being friends with the dad, then to my husband’s mam due to her knowing the neighbours, and so on and so forth.

Never move to a small town. You have no privacy and it is shit.

Still, at least they’re quiet and unobjectionable so far!

Edit because I got caught up in ranting and didn’t answer the question: this week I am looking forward to learning more about AI pathfinding in Godot game engine. It’s the little things in life!

    • I have a cold. Not terrible, but it’s there.
    • We had a power cut yesterday and the internet has been slooooow since then - no idea why.
    • Last batch of updates on an old Linux Mint laptop has borked the resolution.

So, I guess that I am looking forward to getting all those resolved.

Oh yes, and my SO’s birthday present delivery is delayed too. Still a couple of weeks though, so hopefully not too long.

So that’s my Monday morning moan.

      Tried a router reboot?

Yup - and rebooted everything else too - and the router again just now. Upload speed seems fine, but download is appalling. It was slow last night but even worse now. I think I need to speak to my ISP.

After finally getting my wrist looked at yesterday and a quick trip to the fracture clinic this morning, they’re still not sure if I’ve broken anything. Need to go back for an MRI scan within the next two weeks. Joy.

Also, been up since 4am with child #2. Roll on 4pm hometime, and possibly 5pm bedtime.

Well, that sucks. Did they at least give you some kind of advice on how to not make whatever it is even worse in the meantime?

I have to wear a splint until the scan. Which could be worse, the doctor said he usually casts them.

I have a neighbour that’s enthusiastically looking forward to buying a cheap 2nd hand EV, but this has opened a large can of worms as he neither has a smart phone or any form of Internet connection at home.
