When it comes to metal, I usually listen to power metal and traditional heavy metal. Ages ago, Amazon had a promotion where you could buy certain albums for $0.01, so I went through and took a chance on some albums and bands I had never heard of. Of all the albums I got, Borknagar’s Winter Thrice was far and away my favorite, and I dove into Borknagar’s entire discography.

I love the harsh vocals with the melodic choruses, especially combined with the subject matter of nature. I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for similar bands to check out. The only similar thing I can think of is Gojira’s From Mars to Sirus, which is also a great album.

As well as the bands I mentioned in my comment reply to @ALostInquirer@lemm.ee (which assumed it was Black(ish) Metal that was required), you might also try Gorod (latest album is a banger), The Ocean (aka The Ocean Collective) which are both kind of proggy-Death and if you want to go a bit Doomy, try Pantheist or Rise To The Sky.

It’s not entirely like this, but definitely check some Opeth. Preferably older ones that tend to be more metal. I believe you will like them.

Apart that, check some Eluveitie, Svartsot, Skyforger, Finntroll or maybe even Korpiklaani?

To be honest, I think Iron Maiden’s Senjutsu is quite close, and it’s great at delivering a similar feeling in terms of the vocals
