AEW president Tony Khan’s goal was to give the 64-year-old wrestling icon Sting the best farewell and retirement match he could.

Assuming you aren’t a regular viewer (or a regular round this magazine lol), yep!

After WCW he sat out for a bit, ended up in TNA in 03-14, later ended up in WWE in 2014 for a cup of coffee, an insult and a near career ending injury and retired. 2020 he signed with AEW for one final run (which has been fantastic), has been building up for his upcoming proper retirement which is next year.

Nah, I don’t watch. Not since World Wide Fund for Nature won that lawsuit anyway.
Wouldn’t have seen him on my TV since Justice and Flash took on Hogan and Hart.

Blows mind he’s still doing this; understand it’s hell on a body.

edit: Oh, thought he was wrestling continuously from the late 80s to now. Still.

This crazy old man is still jumping off of stuff onto tables. I’m beginning to think he enjoys making us all have anxiety!

I don’t think it’ll happen, but I’d love to be wrong and for Sting’s last match to be against Darby, with Darby taking the win.

I’ll be happy as long as the match is against anyone but Ric Flair. TK can book his final match against one of Dalton Castles Boys for all I care as long as I don’t have to watch Ric Flair take a chop, do the Flair Flop, and then (slowly) gig on camera until he bleeds to death in the ring.

So I wanna be clear that I *fully expect TK to book Sting v Flair.

Er, Sting versus The Boys would be incredible and I will not stand for them being slandered.

You must immediately purchase Dalton some cheese, and a year’s supply of bird seed, as recompense.

Real talk, Sting vs Dalton would be a banger though.

You know, if he wanted to go out and finish on a win I’d so support that, the man was a known asshole, a known addict, and turned it around, as a known dickhead religious fanatic, who then turned it around again to become from all accounts one of the most loved wrestlers in the business by the fans and coworkers. If they wanted to hotshot the TNT title onto him as his final act, I could get into that.
