Tapper was visibly disgusted after ex-Israeli ambassador Mark Regev victim-blamed nine members of a CNN producer’s family who were killed in Israeli airstrikes.
To give a little longer response, it is disheartening that the only response to that kind of genocide is a audible sigh. Maybe that was fine, but you have that murderer on national TV. Rake him through the coals.
Edit - Thinking more about this - if you had Goebbels on your show during WW2, what would you ask him?
Tapper had been fairly pro-Israel until now, from what I’ve seen, so I think he was only just starting to have a wake up.
It’s interesting to see the shift, and Israeli spokespeople are so incredibly bad at their jobs it’s going to keep happening.
They’re bad at their jobs because they lack even a shred of empathy. They are indoctrinated into dehumanizing any perceived enemy of Isreal.
After they’ve been able to silence critics with the word “antisemetism” since like WWII, they haven’t really had to put much effort into brushing shit like this off. Then the Trump presidency quickly gave people a large dose of similar bad faith arguments and justifications to the point where an immunity is building up.
A tipping point was reached between this and the last time the Israel Palestine conflict flared up. The last time, I saw the bad faith in the antisemitic “argument” but it was still popular enough that it felt very risky saying anything about it. It doesn’t feel that way anymore, though I do wonder how far Israel will go to try to shut up critics and how far they’ve already gone to maintain the political support they have in the west. They are already killing journalists, what else?
Tapper is likely waking up because of the impact so close to home (the producer).
That’s precisely why. That’s what it takes for some folks, sadly.
Honestly have to agree. You’ve got him on TV, and after that remark, you should drag that line of thinking all the way out. Make them justify it, don’t just accept “oh they should’ve known better”.
Ask? Jail would be worth it
Is it so hard to remember that the Israeli government is an extreme right wing, theocratic regime.
The likelihood of your values aligning well with them or their spokespeople, even within Israel, is very low. They stripped their own supreme court of the ability to stop them doing what they wanted.
I wonder if the Israel government purposely chooses the biggest pieces of shit to be their spokesmen?
And the Israeli government was chosen by the Israeli people. Hmmmm
Much like how the US government is chosen by the US people, or the UK government is chosen by the UK’s people. What’s your point?
He’s not currently employed by the Israeli government
Edit: literally first line of the article
Tapper was visibly disgusted after ex-Israeli ambassador Mark Regev victim-blamed nine members of a CNN producer’s family who were killed in Israeli airstrikes.
There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now. … What do you mean you’ve never been to Alpha Centauri? Oh, for heaven’s sake, mankind, it’s only four light years away, you know. I’m sorry, but if you can’t be bothered to take an interest in local affairs, that’s your own lookout. Energize the demolition beams.
“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
“That’s the display department.”
“With a flashlight.”
“Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.”
“So had the stairs.”
“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard."
Go fucking where?! Move south? Okay just pack up and move south? Well actually, IDF tells them to leave everything behind and those that don’t leave everything have been bombed on the evacuation routes under suspension of being Hamas. Oh and they’ve bombed areas they’ve told people to go! So, go fucking where?! With nothing but the clothes on your back, to a place with no water, food, or shelter. That probably will be bombed anyway. Ya so, GO FUCKING WHERE?
There’s more evacuation orders now too. So they’ve made about 3/4 of Gaza off limits. And of course you still can’t evacuate through IDF lines. Only further towards the water…
Theres only one refugees camp safe from bombing, the bottom of the ocean. But given its IDF they might start using torpedoes next.
Time to break the apartheid State.
I see the Netanyahu coalition plan to evaporate 1 million children is progressing with the barest minimum pushback.
The “vote for Genocide Joe 2025” shills are in full force right now even on Lemmy while he’s still actively commiting genocide. Democrats don’t give a shit about this and neither do Republicans.
I’ll bite. That’s because his likely opponent is actively trying to dismantle the American democracy, together with a big chunk of the rest of the republicans.
So the choice is between Biden and actual fascists. Should be kind of an easy choice, eh?
Genocide there vs genocide in both places, we’re fucked
That we can agree on.
If your democracy supports genocide I would seriously reconsider what you call democracy.
The democracy is already gone
I think its “genocide of Gaza” for Joe and “genocide for Ukraine and Gaza” for Trump. As shitty as the choice is, there will sadly be real world consequences for it.
America is already talking about dropping support for Ukraine.
Ukraine was just a proxy to exhaust Russian resources with.
Now that the entire country is in ruin America is going to pull support and leave them for dead like they’ve done with all their other proxies.
But does he condemn Hamas?
I think this part of the script is to talk about his antisemitism for those comments.
Once we’ve killed them all, lets talk again. We may even give an apology, but only if there is no one to give it to.
Jake didn’t seem too shocked to me.
Probably more a mix of disbelief, despair and deep revulsion.
Seeing his emotions when the spokesperson blamed those 9 people for getting bombed was moving.
Maybe he’s tired of everybody projecting themselves into him.
Seeing your post history, I can see how it might be difficult to recognize pain and suffering in other people that aren’t Jewish.
Sure sure post history. I guess I’m not afraid of calling out fools. Mea culpa
Wait hang on explain really quick how indiscriminate bombing is self defense. It’ll look really funny under that comment.
Funnty? funny how? Do I amuse you?
I’m serious give me the spiel about how indiscriminate bombing is self defense.

BTW.
95% of people have never used the word “Zionist” a day in their lives before 10/7.

If you don’t think Hamas are terrorists, you join a long line of fools.
We all know hamas are terrorists. The difference is you don’t see any distinction between hamas terrorist and Palestinian civilian.

But Israel bombed the places they asked Gazans to go to. Where are they supposed to go?
They didn’t heed the updated maps. The situation is fluid since the terrorists are hiding in and under the civilization population.
deleted by creator
Yeah. The terrorists are pathetic, hiding in schools, hospitals, and family homes.
deleted by creator
This seems shortsighted and provides no actionable value.

Israel destroyed the internet and telephone infastructure in gaza so no one could communicate.
What air dropped maps are they supposed to follow and when are they supposed to follow them to not be killed indiscriminately? How did Israel make sure everyone had the current maps to ensure their safety from the bombing?

You said it was their fault for not going where Israel said to go, but now youre saying that Israel isn’t responsible for telling them where it’s safe to be? Which is it?
Where are the Palestinians getting updated maps from?
One would hope that their chosen government would help find them safe passage.
The local government is supposed to tell civilians where an invading army is going to bomb them when israel has purposely destroyed all telecommunications?
How would the local goverment know the invading armies plans? How would they communicate them to innocent families when all infastructure to do so was purposely destroyed?
Hamas won by a slim majority in 2006, was supposed to be part of a unity government with Fatah, who they then turned on and began murdering in 2007 and then took power by force. Many Gazans weren’t even born in 2006, nevermind old enough to vote.
You’re holding people accountable for something that they had no say in.
Tell me you are a moron without tell in me.
tell in me
LOL
You don’t get intentional mistakes for comedic effect. Gotcha.
Moron 2
Yeah, they should have fled south where the IDF bombed those that left the north…
Per the news story. The IDF provided leaflets mapping out safe zones. Hamas should have provided these to it’s people and provided safe passage.
It’s funny that your name is a character from Star Wars. That reminds me…
All those people on Alderaan should have just left when the Death Star showed up, right? It’s actually a really good analogy. Thanks.
Darth Vader called 2 hours prior, told them all 45 billion of them Alderaans had to leave the planet. It’s not his fault, the Empire is the most moral army in the galaxy.
If they had just been born Jewish, they wouldn’t be having this problem. /s
I find this comment to be antisemitic and unhelpful.
I find your comment to be supportive of genocide, murder, and apartheid. As a result, your character is disgusting and repulsive. May you be judged accordingly.
Looking for an excuse to ignore cruelty never reflects well on the person doing it. It alerts the reader that you understand what is happening is wrong and are going ahead with it anyways.
