Here we go, I guess! Babby’s first Lemmy post.

    Reddit has sucked for a very long time. It’s fun to finally move on to somewhere new. It’s early, and there will be growing pains, but it is so good to be back on non-corporate internet.

      It has… plus I don’t know what they did to r/all page a while ago but it always showed me the same garbage and the same subreddits - I used to use all to find new things… I like being sent down rabbit holes researching something new…

      If anything, taking Sync away from me was just the kick in the ass I needed to find somewhere new.

        Someone else commented this in a far earlier post, but its so refreshing to come to Lemmy’s comments that arent just 200 people trying to tell the same joke repeatedly lmao

        Half the front page was just the same three posts reposted to 5 big subs like Damnthatsinteresting each. And they weren’t even that good, just generic content farm stuff you’d see on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts etc. (Hell, most of them were just from TikTok)

    I can’t tell if the Lemmy logo has a paw over its mouth like it’s telling a smug little secret or if it’s just its little round snoot

      I would recommend checking out the kbin styles magazine @kbinStyles. Not much in the default settings to reduce white space at the moment, but the people over there have put together lots of custom styles you can install using the tampermonkey plugin to majorly change how the site looks and functions. Take a look around and see if you can find one you like!

      I haven’t yet delved into the kbinStyles offerings.

      On my Windows laptop, I’m using the Stylus extension with Firefox or Chrome, to apply quick-and-dirty sloppy CSS like:

        article, article * {
          margin: 0 !important;
          padding: 0 !important;
        }
        article {
          border-top: 1px dotted gray !important;
        }

      Someone on kbinStyles should have something MUCH better. I haven’t yet tried anything from there, but I see titles like: “…replicate old reddit on kbin”. Look into things like that. — https://kbin.social/m/kbinStyles

      Note: I also select the Compact view (in the view menu which is found via one of the buttons in the magazine header).
