Is Seafile any good? It’s similar to nextcloud, but apparently faster etc.

Mobile apps both have pretty bad ratings on the app stores.
What would you host for yourself, friends and family, basic dropbox functionality is all I need.
I have hosted Nextcloud in the past but it’s a huge program with way too many tools, apps and a complicated way to update, the end result is often a slow and not very comfortable way to use the aforementioned basic dropbox functionality.
Seafile uses some kind of non-standard storage format for the files IIRC, so that’s a big downside.
If you want something simple and fast, check out a basic file browser that just works directly with files on the host like these:

If you need a mobile app vs just using the browser, you could spin up SFTPGo as a WebDAV server, since there are plenty of ways to connect to those from basically every OS.
You should look into OCIS. You can set it up in minutes and it’s really fast compared to Nextcloud for basic file’s stuff (share, sync, stream, photo auto uploads).
Damn. Have the tides turned again? Is owncloud now the better system compared to nextcloud?? I never understood why nextcloud tries to do everything.
For me personally, ocis is way better than Nextcloud for basic sharing and file sync.
