Since I learnt that Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania might be essential prior viewing for Loki Season 2, despite that film getting bad reviews, I planned to watch it but put it off. Now Loki Season 2 is out but I still haven’t seen Quantumania.
Is it impermissible to just skip the movie? I also only watched half of Multiverse of Madness. Does it matter? I just want to see Loki
so far (one episode in), no.
Tentatively, since there’s only one episode of season 2 of Loki out, no. The first episode basically takes up right where season 1 left off. I didn’t notice any huge references to anything beyond the prior season of Loki.
But that might change if later episodes use anything from Quantumania.
I thought maybe Quantumania would automatically be referenced when Jonathan Majors (Kang / He Who Remains) comes back in since he’s in both projects
Without giving too many details, the post-credits of Quantumania reference Loki. But the scene in itself is more of a spoiler for S2.
If you haven’t seen a lot of trailers for Loki, it might actually be better NOT to watch Ant-Man first.
Nope
not yet. only one episode in though. I wondered how they’re going to play Kang in this series.
Have you seen the Quantumania post-credits scene?
yeah… don’t really recall it much but… kang comes back right?
No, well, yes?
One scene is the Council of Kangs, the other is a literal scene from Loki season 2
I can’t say specifically for these shows, but I’d say you’re probably fine to watch your show
I don’t keep up with the MCU, but I was able to watch Multiverse of Madness without watching Wandavision or whatever else is required viewing and everything still made sense.
There’s probably going to be inside jokes or references that you’ll miss out on, but unless it’s very badly written then you shouldn’t be lost watching it
Don’t worry, the writers of that movie weren’t allowed to watch WandaVision beforehand either.
Were they actually disallowed from watching it or are you just joking that it seems like the writers had no understanding of it?
I only ask because apparently the actors in The Last of Us TV series weren’t allowed to play the game beforehand, seems like a questionable ‘creative process’
They wrote the movie before WandaVision released and weren’t given access to watch it early for Doctor Strange 2. I guess they were given just enough details to figure something out.
I have really enjoyed most Marvel content, but Quantumania was hot garbage. If Loki starts to build on it, I’ll probably stop watching it.
Not at all. If anything, the events of Quantumania might be said to take place after Loki, or adjacent to it in some timely wimey way. They don’t have any causal impact on Loki.
Mild spoilers: during the multiversal war referred to by He Who Remains in Loki season 1, the Kang variant known as The Conqueror was sealed away in the Quantum Realm by the other Kang variants. Presumably, the other Kangs were then sealed away somewhere (at the end of time?) by He Who Remains. The outcome of the movie implies that perhaps things will be different going forward, but in what way we won’t find out until a future installment.
If the Loki show follows up that particular lead, it will undoubtedly do so in a way that is self contained and won’t require anyone to have seen Quantumania.
I don’t know yet, the first episode of Loki 2 happens right after the end of the first season. If you want to know more about He Who Remains, you might want to watch it, but I doubt it will be a must.
