      20+ years in IT and I’ve never been closer to leaving the industry. It’s either a good old boys club or a cesspool of dysfunction. Sometimes both.

        I can confirm, IT is brutal right now. There’s so much competition that companies can just work you to death, toss you out, and hire someone to replace you. Fully remote jobs are the worst offenders - they have the biggest pool of candidates and can replace anyone in a day.

        I’m 11 years in IT and my previous company was working me 65 hour weeks. I quit and took a job that is hybrid 2-days in office / 3 days home and it’s much more relaxed.

        I still don’t understand why I need to drive 45 min each way in traffic just to sit in a cubicle with headphones in, but at least I’m making more money and working less hours.
