I’ll keep playing Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which I didn’t expect to enjoy so much. I’ve gotten older since I played Sky FC in 2012, my tastes have changed, and I gave up on this series with Cold Steel. And yet, the character writing makes them as vivid as they were so many years ago, the same goes for the world in which they evolve. I guess it’s Falcom that lost something along the way in that regard.

But if there is one thing Falcom hasn’t lost, it’s their ability to make enjoyable combat systems. The action part works well enough to be enjoyable, as expected from the makers of Ys, and does not overshadow the turn-based part, which offers a good challenge even on normal difficulty. I like having to think about what tools I have at hand and adjust my build accordingly for the more difficult fights.

If you’re willing to give Daybreak 1 a shot, you can jump right into it; almost all of it traces back to Sky 3rd and Crossbell, not so much Cold Steel. It’s a very different flavor. No promises for not being lost in the rest of the Calvard arc, but if you really like the vibe, depending on where you stopped in CS, you might just be able to catch up with summaries.

Does final fantasy tactics advance 2 count? Because I finished that.

It was pretty okay. The story was thin. The difficulty was low and fell off a cliff after I figured out an easy combo, aside from two optional fights. The shop system was more tedious than fun.

I’m not mad I played it, but I think it’s the weakest in the franchise I’ve played.

I was finally able to adjust my CRTs overscan to +/- 1 pixel in all directions (was 12 pixels on both sides and 6 pixels on top and bottom!), so I might try again with some older games.

Recently I felt really defeated because my save file for Record of Lodoss War on Dreamcast got corrupted, IDK if thats a JRPG since its more of a Diablo style RPG, but Lodoss War is Japanese. Maybe it counts, but probably not. Might also try again with Legend of Dragoon or Koudelka, which also both had corrupted saves.

I love it. I didn’t play the previous game but played a good bit of the first trails of cold steel. I like the characters more. The story is super comfy. I appreciate these super endearing jrpg games a lot more than 20 years ago. It performs well. The graphics looks good. I like it more than Tales of Arise and like it at about the same level as Tales of Vesperia and Berseria. I like Persona 5 more but I think I enjoy this more than Persona 3 Reload. It’s a really polished comfy JRPG. It’s like playing Dragon Quest 11 or Atlelier games with how comfy the game feels to me

Final Fantasy XIV. It’s an MMO, but an MMOJRPG, so I guess it counts.

Started last month, and will probably be playing it for a few months more. I am mainly focusing on main story only, with some side stuff once in a long while.

I heared that as well. I played maybe 10 hours and pick it up once a year to play another hour. Problem is, that my account isn’t free because it’s so old and it’s coupled to my ps account. Can’t do a new one that easily

Ah, I am still playing the free one, have reached level 54, main quests levels are around 40 though.

As for story, can’t really say how far along I am, since FF always has some kind of turn around in the story when you think it should nearing the end, but the way story is going, I should be near the end of this chapter / act.

I have played over 65 hours though (and so much of that is fetch quests!), so I don’t think you’ll be able to get to the end with just that. My suggestion is to buy for a month or two, and give it proper time. At least spend 40-50 hours, and then see.

I never played the free one, that’s my problem, i think you further into the game than i have ever been. The concept for free start hasn’t existed when i made my account.

Well, as much as I have played yet, I won’t recommend it as a single player game. Hopefully the expansions will be better.

Nothing last month for me, been playing a lot of not-JRPGs lately. Quite busy!

This month I’m most likely to pick up Breath of Fire IV again, or Dohna Dohna if that counts (NSFW warning if you google that one). Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles are on my playlist, but I likely won’t be picking them up until they are on sale (although on FFT, if I start hearing a lot of interesting buzz about the new changes or the difficulty I might be tempted).

I have never played a Breath of Fire game, but they seem to have good reviews, maybe Capcom should make another one. They don’t have any JRPG franchise that they are making these days, right?

Trails in the Sky is on my list as well, but i don’t want to jump between Calad games and Liberl games, so i think i start first with the daybreak games und play the sky remakes when more of them are released. Final Fantasy Tactics i play for sure as well.

With Sky SC’s remake already announced I may just end up waiting for that myself. What I’d really like to see is Sky 3rd though. I liked that game so, so much more. No guarantees of that one coming, I suppose. It’s the one that probably makes the most sense for them to remake, being exiled on PC only at this point.

I finished Trails into Reverie, it’s a good game, feel a bit like a gacha game which a hub to summon them. The Reverie corridor doesn’t seem to be the most fun place to play, without long time motivation. But in general the game was good. It has way to much characters to give anyone of them a deeper story, but that’s not suposed to be the goal of the game. I think the game just want to give us every past character back to have a place playing with them, maybe the last time for a while. The game doesn’t shine to much which it’s story, doesn’t feel like it has anything to do with later titles, i don’t know yet. I wasn’t as excited to play it as Trails of Cold Steel 3/4 or Trails into Azure, but it was fine.

And i finished Eternights, a Action Indie game that is inspired by Persona. It’s gameplay loop is doing dungeon and having conversation with the other characters, raising social stats and their connections. But it’s bad. I played it for two hours and stopped it. Just a friend of mine ask me to continue the game. Why, because it’s the weird way of bad that is somewhat funny if you don’t have to play it i guess. The MC and his friend constantly talk about lewd stuff. It has a few Ecchi moment, but not to much. The dialogues are somewhat mid. I could give the battle system a pass i guess but if you play this game, every aspekt of the game feel like it’s done on budget, with not much creativity and could been a lot better. The game maker try to give the final of the game, which is only about 10-15 hours long, some kind of impact, some drama and make the player sad, but i only saw this as some kind of joke run, so wasn’t to much invested into it.

I will play Digimon Story Time Strangers and maybe something else later on my switch, like A Hundred line, last defense academy or something eles.

Reverie was definitely a “one last time” kind of game for its cast but I mostly ended up loving it because I’m such a huge Crossbell fan.

Lloyd is definitely my favorite mc so far, Rixia one of my favorite chars and i would say the Crossbel cast and Region is for sure quite good. So yes, Crossbel ist probably tge best place for this game, even though they already have suffer so much, sorry Crossbelians
