(bpd) barrels per day

Imports from Russia at 2 million bpd were up from 1.6 million bpd in July. The increase in Russian flow was at the cost of purchases from Iraq, which declined to 730,000 bpd in August, and Saudi Arabia which fell to 526,000 bpd from 700,000 bpd last month.

    bpd = barrels per day.
    Why the fuck not just write that in the headline?
    Fuck 3 letter acronyms that are used before the actual meaning in articles.

        Doesn’t change the fact that for “average” readers, without introducing the term first, it’s a very bad habit to start out with a 3 letter acronym that has hundreds of meanings.
        In an old fashioned paper, or if you are on the site, you can read the bread text below. But for a link that is common in modern day internet you cannot.

        If the context always included the article, it would be OK, but on the internet it’s a very bad habit IMO, especially when what it stands for is not very long.
