Part of the momentum behind Mamdani’s primary win in NY is the foundational movement building that Bernie and AOC have been doing for years, and particularly with the fight oligarchy tour. This is not nothing; NY mayor is one of the most important positions we could capture, even if it’s not radical.
I agree that we don’t have time for these mainstream do-nothing Democratic politicians like Cory Booker, Hakim Jeffries, and Chuck Schumer. Fuck em. But if we organize and fight, we can make electoral strategy a key part of our agenda and actually win. Elections are not the only space where we can fight and win too!
Let’s not be overly optimistic OR pessimistic at this point. We’re getting close, but we’re not there yet. I think we can still turn this around without organizing militias, even though it absolutely constitutes legitimate self defense at this point.
