This is a repost of the Weekly Warframe from 3 days ago as dormi.zone was having issues at the time and the post didn’t seem to federate. Apologies to lemmy.zip users for the duplicate!

Brutalism frame, a walking soviet era apartment building, “Why do I taste metal?” - Qorvex!

Passive: All primary, secondary, selective melee weapons (Glaives and Gunblades), and Crucible Blast wielded by Qorvex gain Core Exposure, granting them a +3 Punch Through bonus.
Chyrinka Pillar - Summon a Chyrinka Pillar that slows enemies. It pulses Radiation Damage with a guaranteed Status Effect.
Containment Wall - Contain the threat. Qorvex summons walls that slam together, damaging all enemies caught between them and inflicting Radiation Status.
Disometric Guard - Guard yourself and nearby allies against Status Effects. Each time Qorvex kills or assists in killing an enemy affected by Radiation Status, the number of Status Effects Disometric Guard can prevent increases.
Crucible Blast - Release a beam from Qorvex’s Crucible Core. Each enemy struck suffers Radiation Damage with a guaranteed Status Effect. Enemies affected by Radiation Status explode in a chain reaction.

Acquisition: Main blueprint is acquired upon completion of Whispers in the Walls quest. Component blueprints are acquired from Sanctum Anatomica Bounties and can be purchased from Bird 3 of Cavia.

Your range is good but your power strength is lacking, you probably want to hover around 200% (Molt Augmented helps a lot). He’s EXTREMELY tile dependent, I wasn’t joking when I said he’s a tower defense frame. You really need to plan where to put down his Pillars for maximum killing efficiency, with the augment they are what does most of the work and your beam is just kind of there to enable their functionality, you don’t even need it to actually hit things. He’s far from a top frame, you ain’t competing with Khora or Saryn for KPM, but the augment actually made him into a solid enough AoE frame with a rather unique playstyle which is cool!

Built for more aggressive strength and 235% range and his KPM is still lacking. Damage is nearly double now. What’s the strategy for pillar placement? At the moment I pick a connector tile with close spawns, drop pillars at the ends, then shoot Crucible at enemies as they clump up. The Crucible and pillar blasts seem to tick very slowly, so I think that’s my issue.

I’ll give him one last spin on next week’s EDA, assuming it doesn’t roll Constricted for the fourth week in a row. After that I’m willing to accept that I just like Vaub’s mobile and weapon buffing style more, and Mr Sits In Place is just too diametric to my playstyle.

Good places to put the pillars are whenever enemies tend to clump up without much room to wander off and with cut of LoS, the most annoying part of his whole kit is the Radiation procs, he wants enemies to be bunched up together but rad procs make them wander off, as well as stopping new enemies from wandering into the pillars as they stop and shoot at their irradiated teammates instead. Moving them around every now and then can be a good idea, tag a new group while the old rad procs expire and the enemies group up again. It’s really annoying that his kit has such an anti-synergy in it but his whole identity is radiation focused so not much that can be done other than reworking rad procs again.

So the pillars are actually working against my KPM? I guess I’m thinking about the frame wrong, people describe him as high damage or high KPM, but it seems like he’s actually the least offensive CC frame, at least in content where you can pick your weapons.

Yeah, he really only shines when played solo and in missions where you get to stay still and have loads of enemies come to you. The various iterations of defense or survival are where he is most fun to play, I would never bring him to an exterminate, assassination, etc. Is he better than the Torid/Furis Incarnon? No, but the Torid/Furis have better KPM than about 70% of DPS Warframes so there is that.

Actually, my context for “high KPM” is any number of Influence setups, like high-parkour Heavy Slam or Stealth Xata, or even meme setups like Stealth Xata Ichors. But yeah comparing any frame to Influence is pretty unfair.

I guess having to pop towers isn’t bad, as long as I’m not being forced out of the room I’m camping. Just feels like forever since my KPM has been so low I’ve had to do that.
