Y’know, that presenter in that video had me in the first minute til they started flinging around ‘cult-like’ and ‘authoritarian’ like they’re trying to hit the triple word score square.

yes, a bit biased, informative, but informed in the context of an informational war.

    That celebration looked incredibly reserved.

It’s so weird watching the juxtaposition of a country celebrate being around for a hundred years pretty quietly, and the announcer saying what a terrible authoritarian regime.

Like have these fucking people ever seen the 4th of july? Nothing looks more propagandizing and authoritarian than a bunch of drunk white people shooting off rifles while basting illegal fireworks while shouting USA USA USA next to their street legal tanks we call “trucks”. We look like mind controlled authoritarian fascists by comparison.

Was a nice watch, even with the fear of China shit at the end. The US makes statements even more aggressive all the time with everyone fawning about “freedom”, but China is the one always the one being called this with fear. While George Orwell was constantly writing shit and more or less outright claiming that the USSR and MLs were the ones being Big Brother (being fair it was also about fascists but they didn’t stick around long enough to be the first thing most people jump to when thinking of 1984). It is very obvious that the US is the more terrifying and real version. Just learned to be less openly obvious about everything (why show their hands all the time when they would rather we all just openly state things for them to look into?).

This is even more true now that we do actually have cameras, listening devices, and data that is scooped up at all times at home and abroad. They have been smart to act like they can’t get around things like phone or computer encryption. Making it seem that they do have to follow legal paths and demand that all the companies allow them in. Which means that if they are, it completely sidestep our literal rights per the Constitution. But they don’t even need to have them comply as they do make sure to get agents employed without it being known that they work for intelligence. Or they just flip people with money or threats. Not to mention all the shit done to create colour revolutions and other nation/region destabilization. Set up black sites for the most fucked up kinds of torture and complete disappearing of humans. While acting like nations like China are the ones doing this shit and that the US is a fully life respecting nation that only does good.
