  • Not op, and I agree, but wanted to clarify what I think is that commenters thoughts and why they might have said what they said.

The point is that they don’t know what it’s like to not have running water, and they just can’t mentally put themselves in the position of someone who doesn’t have it, making it hard to emphasize and thus, fight for the rights of those people, instead of, for example, caring about if they have a new car every 3 years (or funko pops as the deprogram guys joke about).

  • I like how the only stat they throw, as you said, is basically a made up problem, but the rest of the article is just a clear attack piece on kids that “don’t want to work”. Even if you think they are being lazy, cherry picking like this can go either way. It’s anecdotal, but how many articles talk about how lazy kids are (Only every generation for the last 100+ years).

And in the 3ns, isn’t it a good thing kids don’t work? They can get an education, spend time with family, you know, live life while they are young. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

  • Anyone know a good source for the history of space flight technology that isn’t U$ biased? I’m compiling references for good info about this kind of stuff, and haven’t dove into this yet. Considering the U$ propaganda and hegemony, you won’t get any information past “sputnik”, “first man in space”, then “america landed on the moon boom first removed fuck ya U$A U$A”. But I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the USSR never actually claimed they were racing to go to the moon. But I’m looking for facts, not just the stuff I’ve heard about. Sites, books, pamphlet recommendations, etc. are all welcomed.

    Thanks 1000x in advance.

  • I love a good Parenti video, thank you for linking that!

And thank you for the clarifications comrade, I agree with you completely.

Unfortunately I was a bit short on time and did not clarify liberalism to the extent that I could. You also bring up good points of view that I didn’t quite have solidified in my thinking yet. As evidenced by your long explanation, it is difficult for a liberal to understand why liberalism is just a path towards fascism. I think you eloquently pointed out that any capitalist system, even with a population who’s opinion has a lot of overlap with communist ideas, will still slip into fascism over time.

TLDR what we think of as liberalism is actually just when the fascism is contained in the countries we inflict it on.

    Damn that’s a good TLDR

  • Sorry for the long comment, hope this clarification helps. If others disagree with my explanation, feel free to clarify or call out any wrong ideas. I’m a new Liberal convert so I’m still working through these details.

In essence, the “left” are socialists, the “right” are fascists (Glossing over some details here). Fascism is authoritarian capitalism, but Liberalism is capitalism that’s not fascism. Liberalism is theoretically to the left of the political spectrum, but it’s a compromise to the capitalists.

Our problem with Liberals is they seem completely incapable of having a real conversation about how the world works, and how to make change. As well, they demonize anyone that doesn’t share their viewpoint.

For example: “Woke” is kind of a fake word now, it means whatever conservatives want it to mean, but it comes from a real place. Initially being woke meant that you see the injustices that are institutionalized in the world, and seek to better yourself after learning that information. This is a good thing and lead to more people understanding the contradictions of our wold. But Liberals kinda turned into “I’m better than you because I went ‘woke’”, “If you aren’t woke, then leave my circle of friends”, “Anything that isn’t woke isn’t worth talking about”. This perpetuates the culture war that the conservatives are winning, because in the end, who wants to side with the assholes who push their own out at any sign of disobedience? The fascists are playing open arms to everyone the left excludes, perpetuating the growing movement of right authoritarianism.

I was a liberal for a long time, but always felt out of place because although the conservatives made up a lot of bullshit about liberals, they touched on some real things that also irritated me. Instead of moving to the right, I was educated and looked at the source of some of these things. That led me to find where the real problems of the world were, opened my eyes to those that were in charge, causing these problems in the first place. That lead me to socialism, communism, etc. and now I think I’m more on the ‘left’ than I have ever been.

  • Exactly comrade! It is so demoralizing when every person is so deep in their own shit to realize what the world really smells like, but a hint of fresh air can start anyone on a journey to re-education and realization. Even myself, as this is where I came from.

I’m a self-selected individual for learning. I seek out knowledge myself, not everybody is this way. But with enough time and effort others will understand, especially when it gets so bad that it’s hard to defend the status quo anymore. And we’re getting there now, hence the rise in different flavors of communism.

  • In theory you could wait for evidence that this costs them time and effort, or you could do it proactively. In the situation where it doesn’t cost that much, it doesn’t cost you much because it’s literally two buttons. In the situation where it costs them time and effort, well that’s the goal so awesome.

As someone who works as a software developer, I know that not all “automation” is created equal, or set up correctly, or “fully” automated. Considering they give themselves 7 days to do it, they are likely responding in a ticket queue of some sort, so even if it’s not super time consuming, there likely is manual intervention somewhere.

It’s two buttons on our side. It’s worth it to me. Also, this way I can copy down my history somewhere off Reddit, so that I can search it myself without going back there.

  • Damn, I’ve seen that quote a couple times but putting it in perspective is important. Yeah, that might actually convince some liberals to think twice. I never give myself the goal of converting someone within a conversation, I know that’s basically impossible. But giving food for thought is important. My example spans multiple conversations, it is kinda a straw man example, but I always struggle to determine the detail of my posts haha. But yeah, that is a quote that I think people can bite into and think about for a while. Thanks for the suggestion.
