Who cares about it in this context? Is film maker supposed to think about some random Joe cleaning the popcorn after screening and optimise his movie for least popcorn spillage??
My local theatre had a group of teenagers throw popcorn and drinks at the meme’d scenes and basically destroyed the theatre for a TikTok moment.
They are ruining the experience for the kids that actually want to watch the movie. If all this stupid viral moment was people shouting “chicken jockey” I’d be indifferent but it’s way beyond this
That’s a little bit too serious for me to get involved in that sort of discussion. It will probably amount to “kids these days” and that’s such a fucking boring thing to say
But probably yes, I don’t know, not really interested. What answer would please you?
I agree that discussing the kids would come down to “where are the parents?” Or “this is what’s wrong with society” and that’s not productive or worth discussion.
Mainly I was just providing an example of a negative reaction the movie is getting that the director might care about. No right answer you have to provide to me to make me happy
I haven’t been to cinema since revenge of the sith
Sorry, I don’t believe you’ve avoided movies for 20 years because “they aren’t making good movies” but refer to that movie as a 10/10, non-corpo slop. Messa thinks you’re lying.
Inglourious Basterds, The Departed, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Interstellar, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Grand Budapest Hotel, 12 Years a Slave, Django Unchained … fuck off with that excuse. And since you stopped on Star Wars, we can throw in several MCU movies (not all, but several). The cultural impact alone that Avengers: Endgame had by itself cannot be understated.
Beyond that, the sheer number of times you’ve defended these kids’ actions, this director’s comments… with “Who cares about it in this context?” like it’s a new phrase you’re really trying to get mileage out of… you’re way too invested.
You made a crucial error. Almost good, almost very good but you missed one essential detail: I didn’t say I watched 0 movies since rots. I just haven’t been to the cinema
Almost you made a sly response but whole thing is to be thrown into trash bin because you missed that detail
This Minecraft business is fine. It’s no different than any afternoon kids movie matinee (ie: Paw Patrol; something that only kids are interested in). The mess that ends up on the floor is sold at a 99% profit margin and anyone who understands the finances of running a theater gives zero fucks about that product getting wasted. I can’t imagine any upset patron getting stiffed on a free screening to compensate for it, either.
At this stage, theater owners are hungry for literally anything that sells tickets and puts butts in seats. Fuck it; let the kids have fun at the movies.
I wrote that as a former movie theater usher. I literally did that job. You regularly clean up giant messes. Kids matinees were always the messiest. That is the job. When you aren’t cleaning auditoriums, you’re cleaning toilets, the lobby, polishing the brass on the stanchions, etc. There’s literally no idle time being stolen by this work.

No one asked him to change the movie or to anticipate audience reaction beforehand. I just think he’s a moron for endorsing rude (and occasionally dangerous) behavior. (Possibly also for making a terrible film; haven’t seen it.)
It’s not his job to care about this. He is there to make a certain experience. Whether people cleaning get paid adequately (depending on country/theater where screening is taking place) is not his job to take into account but the each theater owner or/and government
It’s isn’t anyone’s “job” to care about this. It’s called being a decent human being with a modicum of respect for others. So sick of this raging greedy narcissism.
It’s not your fricking job to think about every single person that comes in the touch with your craftsmanship
I mean feel free to but that’s rather insane
He could sure make a gesture like ‘I also want to raise awareness about wages of cinema workers’ but I don’t think lack of it should result in him being cancelled on twitter
I don’t know that it’s hard to hire. You can’t just not have income under capitalism, and you don’t have a lot of choice as a worker when pretty much everywhere is offering the worst conditions they can get away with. They’re more likely to replace you than give you a raise.

He doesn’t have to clean the theaters afterwards, so of course it doesn’t bother him.
And it’s free advertisment.

The movie already ruins the movie for people who actually want to watch the movie.

I’m going to guess, in this context, you’re one of the kids that gave into the hype and made a mess and is now trying to validate your actions.
I haven’t been to cinema since revenge of the sith
Probably because they aren’t making good movies anymore but just some corpo slop
There’s tons of good movies made, you just gotta stop seeing slop.

I’m sure the understaffed folks making minimum wage really appreciate all the extra income this film is bringing their overlords.

It would be a nice gesture
If nobody wants to work at a theatre and its hard to hire, that is the prime time to ask for a raise tho

The theater owners also do not have to clean up after.
