      That’s what they claim, they claim to be the only “true leftists” and everyone else are “liberals” and/or CIA agents

      Realistically though, they float towards the right when it aligns with their authoritarian tendencies.

        Also, don’t forget the “scratch a liberal” rule. Thus, if you contradict them enough that they call you a liberal, then you’re basically a fascist, you nazi!

      If you go far enough left you become right wing again. Horseshoe theory is real and it’s proven time and time again.

      The only real political spectrum that matters is normal sane people with a brain vs. the extremists.

        The political compass isn’t perfect but it explains it a lot better. If you aren’t familiar, the axes are left-right and libertarian-authoritarian. Tankies are full authoritarians (as evidenced by the fact that they attack the definition of the word every time someone brings it up) so they align on a lot of auth-right beliefs while still being (ostensibly) on the left. Libleft is diametrically opposed to auth-right, so from that perspective, tankies are more closely aligned to auth right than to lib left.
