Teed off at 7am at my local course. The last bit of morning fog had nearly burned off and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
My driver wasn’t behaving and I had to deal with hitting hooks all day. I hit exactly zero fairways with driver, but still managed to shoot 78, so the rest of my game was working well.
The weather was great, I went for a nice 18 hole walk, and I carded a decent score, not a bad morning.
Solo game, or did you wake the crew for a group walk?
I went out as a single, but the course is far too busy to allow people to play alone at 7am, so I was grouped with 3 other singles. It was a fun group, two of them discreetly smoked a bit of cannabis (this being in Southern California), we all had beers at the turn (before 9am on a Friday), and everyone played well relative to their skill levels. We got around in just under 4 hours, which is rare at that course.
I’m still left wondering what I would have shot if I’d hit just 50% of fairways with driver instead of none. I’m headed to the range today to attempt to sort it out.
