Yes, I know that isn’t what the term means.
I thought the same thing at first, but the article states that the fasting diet in question involves reducing calories by 80% 3 days out of the week, and no restrictions the other 4. That works out to 34% overall calorie reduction per week, which is what they state as the “non-fasting” control.
So what the headline really should say is “Fasting Every Other Day Outperforms Calorie Cutting Alone”
