Wow, they managed to make a law so fucked up that US judges and prosecutors cooperate to work around it.

Reuters’ headline sure softpedals the facts. I can almost hear an editor saying, We want something upbeat, dang it — make it cheerier!
“The courts are trying to do the best with what they’ve been given, which is a crappy statute that doesn’t make any sense,” said Ryan Dischinger, a public defender. “This statute was passed because, quite frankly, our legislature doesn’t like to look at homeless people.”
To whatever extent prosecutors & judges are trying to be decent about it, thanks and all, but the trying to be decent can end with any election. This law is just a loaded gun pointed at poor people.
