Oscars host Conan O’Brien took a swipe at Donald Trump’s ties to Vladimir Putin while joking about Anora’s success at the 97th Academy Awards.

“Anora is having a good night,” he said of the film’s multiple wins. “That’s great news. Two wins already. I guess Americans are excited to see somebody finally stand up to a powerful Russian.” The joke drew loud applause.

It came after Trump’s tense meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky, where Trump compared scrutiny of his Russia ties to a “witch hunt.”

        This is about as political as he gets, so I’m hoping he’s not exactly high up on Trump’s list of “funny people that said a mean thing about me”
