He chose AEW because he wanted to have fun with his friends and cash a paycheque NJPW could never afford to give him while not having to be at the top of the card all the time.

The Rainmaker is still there, but we’re not gonna be getting the Wrestle Kingdom special every month like we did 5-10 years ago cause he doesn’t need to do that anymore.
