A new executive order from the Trump Administration commands the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to terminate the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Long COVID.

The Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Long COVID includes 14 members, composed of patient advocates, physicians, researchers, and others, some with lived experience of the disease. Despite being classified as special government employees, the committee members are unpaid volunteers.

The executive order follows removal of important Long COVID information and data from federal websites since the Trump Administration took office this year. These include government resources about Long COVID as a disability, the Pulse Household Survey, as well as important COVID-19 data.

There’s no way this can be justified under the name of improving government efficiency. Trump is doing this solely because its a reminder of a national health crisis that he so devastatingly mismanaged.

FAKE NEWS! It was Kung Flu, the Chinese virus!

It’ll just be added to pile of hundreds of other invisible reasons why people are “too lazy to get a job”. So that the people suffering from them can be blamed instead of other people feeling bad for the situation they had either little or no control over being in. That’s the standard playbook response to this kind of thing. The sufferers are wrong to suffer, they should just be normal like everyone else. Not being normal is wrong. So they deserve to be poor or dead because they are the ones in the wrong.
