Teasing aside, this works surprisingly well. The default settings for dehydrate is 150°F, which is well under the glass transition temperature for PETG.
Would not recommend for ABS/ASA. I have no idea what temperature that plastic starts putting out its toxic fumes at, and I don’t want to find out.
Lol just ordered an air fryer / dehumidifier for this exact reason. Thanks for confirming it works.
As the one I ordered can run at <80c the recommended dehumidifier temp for asa. That is exactly what i plan to try it on.
Do keep the glass transition temperatures for your filaments in mind. 150°, or even 165°F may be fine for PETG, but PLA will soften at those temps. Also, check your local liquor stores for anything in the 95% range. Makes a great cleaner in general, and should take care of any unforeseen offgassed chemical deposit issues.
Even though I expect any such volatiles to remain a gas and get shot out the exhaust, it’s better to be safe.
