Summary

Sen. Ron Wyden warned that Elon Musk’s team, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was granted “full access” to a U.S. Treasury payments system handling $6 trillion annually.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent approved the access, sparking concerns over national security risks and conflicts of interest due to Musk’s business ties with China.

Wyden highlighted potential threats to Social Security, Medicare, and contractor payments.

The move follows Musk’s broader efforts to overhaul government operations under President Trump’s directive for federal spending cuts.

The Treasury declined to comment.

I believe Mayer Rothschild’s famous quote applies:

“Give me control of a nation’s money and I care not who makes its laws”

From what I remember musk doesn’t even have security clearance for spacex top security and was under investigation by the pentagon for contact with foreign governments.

So your country is being set on fire by a fat orange Nazi and his South African henchman and all you care about is the stripe of the guy ringing the alarm bell?

      Real classy…

The point is: If the team ringing the alarm bell isn’t in charge, and the team who’s setting the fire is a cult of arsonists, then no one is putting out any fire.

It helps to know what you’re talking about before you insult people.

Normally, in sane governments of the world, having the opposition raise the alarm is normal for things to be debated and discussed and potentially halted.

Great, but we’re talking about modern US politics here. For this to be news of any significance, that letter needs to be an ‘R’. That little letter changes the entire dynamic of the story— but downvote what you don’t understand. It’s cool.

If all actions and opinions by anyone other than the literal maniacs in power are completely insignificant, how do you ever learn opposing viewpoints about anything?

I don’t need to learn anything here because I pay attention to the news and what the fascists say out loud. It seems odd to me you keep focusing on the aspect of “ringing alarm bells” when they have been almost broken from being hit so hard and so long for 8 years. The entire fucking point here, is it’s ONLY the democrats ringing them. It has nothing to do with me “caring” about Wyden’s political affiliation or some shit’s misplaced belief it was some sort of jab. It the sad fucking reality of our situation and needs to be stated out loud.

You people are fucking tiresome and dense. That is all.

Thanks. I was wondering if there was internal strife or if it was just the dems spitting in the wind. The former would have more hope of action being taken.
