Dear Oklahoma Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to share an important update about rules approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Education yesterday. These rules will now proceed to the legislature for final approval. Each rule is designed to enhance transparency, accountability, safety, and patriotism in our public schools. Here is a summary of the proposed rules:

Enhancing Enrollment Transparency (OAC 210:10-1-5)

Each school district will be required to report the total number of students who cannot provide documented proof of U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status at the time of enrollment. This measure is intended to provide greater transparency and will help us better understand and support the needs of our schools and students.

Protecting Students from Abuse (OAC 210:25-3-4)

School districts will now report employees who resign or are not rehired due to suspicions of abuse or neglect of a student. This step strengthens protections for children and ensures accountability and transparency in reporting misconduct.

Promoting Patriotism (OAC 210:35-3-5)

School districts must establish policies ensuring that the American flag and the Pledge of Allegiance are respected and appropriately displayed on all campuses without unnecessary restrictions.

Strengthening Transportation Safety (OAC 210:30-5-8)

Criteria for bus driver certification revocations and suspensions will be expanded to enhance the safety and accountability of school transportation systems, ensuring that drivers meet clear legal and professional standards.

Improving Educator Knowledge of Foundational Principles (OAC 210:20-13-1)

Teachers will be required to pass a written test based on the U.S. Naturalization Test, promoting an understanding of fundamental American principles among educators.

Increasing Student Transfer Transparency (OAC 210:10-1-18)

This rule ensures consistent reporting on student transfers by school districts and the State Department of Education, providing comprehensive data to help parents, guardians, and policymakers understand transfer trends and decisions.

These rules reflect our commitment to improving transparency, accountability, safety, and patriotism in Oklahoma’s public schools. We believe these measures will help build a stronger and more accountable education system for your children.

As these rules move to the legislature for final consideration, I encourage you to stay informed and engaged. For more details, please visit our website here.

Thank you for your continued commitment to your children’s education.

For Oklahoma,

Signature Superintendent Ryan Walters

This kind of bullshit pisses me off. Look at how a few of those line up with Trump agenda. Not a shock coming same asshat that tried to put Trump bibles in all our schools.

Patriotism should be instilled, not mandated and taught. If you’re country isn’t doing enough for you to feel patriotic, why should you be required to do so?

I’d love to require politicians to take the naturalization test before passing nonsense like this. Make that data publicly available

“will now report employees who resign or are not rehired due to suspicions of abuse”

Bet they’ll never do this with cops or prison guards.

Weirdly, i read that as “we will report teachers who are or otherwise support LGTBQ+ as child abusers”

“will help us better understand and support the needs of our schools and students.”

Fuck that noise, you don’t get to pick and choose what children get a public education. All children should get their requirements, nutrition, mental, social and safety no matter where they come from. Of course I don’t know that I’d wish the Oklahoma type of “education” on anyone’s children.

So when there is a critical shortage of teachers and bus drivers, will they call in the military to perform those tasks?

Nope Oklahoma already allows the hiring of non certified teachers. In Oklahoma our teachers don’t even need college or know how to teach.
