The Steve Jobs episodes of Behind The Bastards go into a lot of detail as to why this happened this way. You also get to hear about how Jobs would soak his feet in the toilet during meetings and how he made little children cry for eating wrong. He was a real piece of shit.

He also set off bombs in his school and got sued by the State of California for letting his wife and child live off of welfare while he was as rich as, well, Steve Jobs. I’m usually not the biggest fan of podcasts and other such audio-only media, but this was too good to skip. Worth every second of the four hours!

Up to 2015, Macbook were the best machines available. You could update ram, drives, etc. My 2012 mb is still going strong.

It’s the same reason iPhones don’t allow you to use a memory card lol if you’ve used up all of your storage then it’s time to get a new phone!

Nah, Apple was an amazing company for a while. Iirc they were literally the best bang for your buck by a long shot, which shouldn’t be surprising considering they were literally the first company to make a home computer that didn’t require soldering experience or a kit. At some point they decided to prioritize form over function, however, and started going downhill.

The Apple II was very good. I always wished I could get one.

(And by the date, and by the impossibility of it being about the Apple original, that’s exactly the computer the OP is talking about.)

The Apple II was a good computer but if I lived in that era I probably would have used a Commodore 64 and later the Amigas or a i386 IBM clone.
