Bernice A. King, MLK’s daughter, told an audience at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church that advocates “will remain woke” against rollbacks of civil rights gains as the new administration’s agenda takes hold.
The opposite of woke is asleep. How the word woke became a bad thing is beyond me. Take it back.
Black people used “woke” to mean “aware of the injustices facing black people”, “awake” to them, if you will. People later extended that word to injustices facing minorities in general, whether by race, gender, etc.
Trumpists hate minorities, and as such, believe that being woke is being delusional. Hence why they see it as bad.
It started off in the black community to refer to people who were aware of systemic injustices against black people.
And now that it refers to systemic injustices against any minority group, the word is really offensive to a bunch of losers! Lmao
Its never been a bad thing. Just like being gay has never been a bad thing.
Black people say it, therefore it must be a work of the devil.
I wish I was kidding. That’s really what happened.

I’d rather listen to the modern words of MLK’s daughter than in the regurgitated shouting of a pastor at the inauguration co-opting MLK’s original speech from the past.
