Star Control 2
Star Control 2
We’ve got some good examples of emulators, so I’ll share some examples where the originals are better.
DC, DS, 3DS, and WiiU (especially) because of the inability to give the dual-screen experience that these consoles offer.
Yes, the DS and 3DS can emulate the touch screen with your mouse, or maybe even a touchscreen monitor. But your controls are still going to be on a separate device the majority of the time.
The DC has its VMUs, which were often doing something related to the game you were playing. In Sonic Shuffle (Mario Party but Sonic and cards instead of dice), it actually showed your hand. It was an interesting mechanic, because players could choose cards from ANY player’s hand…and the VMUs were the only way to see which card was what.
The WiiU would probably need to be able to emulate onto a tablet for a lot of the games that utilized it well to work as originally intended.
This is “NoStupidQuestions”, not “AnythingGoes”, lol
Not a current student, but know some in tech programs. At least in colleges (as opposed to universities), a lot of professors have been moving away from textbooks. But maybe the students I know are just lucky, lol
There are still publishers who do exactly what you describe. Pearson was doing maybe 10% off for the digital copy. You could buy used textbooks, but then you’d need to buy the “digital pass” for the homework, which was more than half the cost of the book (and it wouldn’t give any digital access to the book itself).
People will click whatever’s stopping them from the dopamine hit of adding a game they’re probably not going to play to their library.
It’d be even harder to stop someone who actually WANTS to play the game they’re paying for! Lol
I remember when this was first starting, the digital copies were like 30% cheaper. A lot of people, including myself, took them up on it because it made most things easier. (Especially when publishers would be coming out with new editions every year and many profs just made the new edition the required one regardless of any substantial differences)
Bats – the quintessential floof bird.
Beaver – halfway between beast and floof
Do they need “buy” or “purchase”? All they need is “pay”, and nobody would notice.
That was the one action I took on Twitter after creating an account before my account got banned.
I needed to create an account to check a local source for updates. So I did. I also decided to look around on Twitter to see what I was “missing”. Saw a bunch of Musk stuff and instantly knew I didn’t want to see any of it. So I blocked him.
In a few weeks, when I clicked a Twitter link, it said my account had been banned for suspicious activity. It had a secure password and this was its second log-in ever (no posts, comments, reactions, etc).
Oh, wow. This comment just made me wonder if Shirley is a female bastardization of Charles through Charlie…
It’s probably not, but I could see it being the case
Some people never see their parents as trusted authorities, but the laws still treat them as if they are
In many places, the victim being 16 wouldn’t be the problem. It’d be the abuse of trusted authority that the perpetrator has over the victim.
I’ve always wondered why it’s President’s Choice and not Prime Minister’s Choice
Hmm…if the price of retro games lowers, I’ll be more likely to get good deals…
But I’ll be in a worse position if I ever need to sell parts of my existing collection…
growing up i just wanted a normal ass name.
Now, as an adult, you can name your ass whatever you want!
I like Launchbox, but the entries are generally built around having a, uh…“digital collection”.
But I like it because you don’t have to worry about GameFAQs shutting down or changing what they offer. Launchbox is a desktop app (and a more-limited mobile app) that allows you to save your collection’s metadata locally. Then just back it up to the cloud from there!
It also supports Steam and other digital storefronts.
Check it out! It’s completely free, and optionally upgradeable with either a subscription or a lifetime purchase. Completely usable for free though.
No, loud volumes are one of the things I mentioned explicitly that cause pain inherently.
You should be using hearing protection when using loud tools or attending concerts.
There are so many kinds of difficulty that this is hard to answer.
There’s fake difficulty, where the game is just being cheap. Some games are hard because their mechanics or controls are just janky.
Some games are easy to lock yourself out of the ending and not know it. Try the game from the start again!
There’s genuinely difficult games, but any time a game is difficult in a “fair” sense, there are people on the internet who’ll beat it with a guitar controller, or blindfolded, or without any power ups.
If you want a game that not many people could beat…I don’t think many people could beat Bokosuka Wars today…
The Stampede?
I hardly ever beat Level 2…aka. the platformer version of “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King”.
And Level 3 has some annoyingly tough jumps too. I think The Stampede is level 4?
The only way most of us ever played the second half of the game is level select…
Those are often categorized as
