    Kookaburra bro!

Used to live in The Gap and had a couple magpie bros that eventually would sit on our shoulders and stuff. They’re very trusting after a few days of feeding and contact.

Just don’t let them in the house, they’ll start raiding 👍

I’ve had possums and scrub turkeys do that already! I’m wise to them now :)

I was in camping in Florida three days ago and I swear I heard one of this birds. I heard a loud monkey noise relatively close to me. I know they aren’t native to the area but what else sounds like a monkey like that.

I’ve never heard a kookaburra described as sounding like a monkey before, but now that you say it, yeah, I can see it…

Maybe you have birds that have escaped captivity in your area?

Every time at the zoo I have the thought “what the hell kind of monkey is that!?” Every time, kookaburra.

Fun fact I learned recently, another name for the kookaburra is a laughing jackass! I guess someone didn’t like the sound.

I looked it up and it was likely a barred owl. I definitely heard a barred owl that night, did not know they also make monkey calls.
