Summary
Donald Trump suggested using “economic force” to acquire Canada, citing trade deficits and national security benefits.
He also claimed the U.S. “subsidizes” Canada by up to $200 billion annually.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dismissed the idea, saying, “there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell” Canada would join the U.S.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Joe Biden praised Trudeau’s leadership as he prepares to leave office amidst rising U.S.-Canada trade tensions and tariff threats under Trump.
How can people actually not laugh in his face??
Just think about the fact that this man dodged the draft and everyone knows it.
He has never served a day in his life. It used to be pretty much a requirement that a realistic presidential candidate was ex-military.
This shit is bonkers. None of this guys children are at any risk if he goes to war with Denmark, Mexico, and Canada.
Not that he really wants Greenland, or Canada. Its a distraction once again to steer the talking points away from whatever Russia and China are doing, or whatever climate catastrophe they’re working on.
Finally, this is only news to people reading left leaning sites. Fox news would gloss over this shit or give it 30 seconds of praise. By the time we get properly agitated about something, his fans have forgotten it ever happened.
People keep saying “How is this not the last straw for people”… He was reelected by people who don’t know about these things or don’t care.
I’m sure Fox News is saying this is just a smart business move to get the other party to compromise by threatening them and not actually enforcing this tariff.
He was reelected for different reasons that his absurd theories and comments about foreign affairs
Because he has real political power.
Very limited, compared to his predecessors. Plus, he’s got a lot less money to invest/spend. Not my problem (I’m not a US citizen nor I live in the US) but his voters too should be able to separate his fuckery from his actual political actions (whatever they will be)
Doesn’t he know Canada is basically a british colony? We have the King on all our coins/bills, if he wants to invade Canada, I think UK will say something about it. And if Canada separates, I’d rather join France than USA. Also we can burn the white house like in 1812.
Officially removed the last strings of being a colony in 1982. the head of state with the monarchy was kept as a tradition for the oldies.
Now more accurate to say Commonwealth member, Ally of many, and founding member of NATO.
Brave of you to assume he knows anything about Canada at all
Doesn’t he know Canada is basically a british colony?
🤣 No. He just learned where Canada is and doesn’t like it being over America. “We should be in top”.
Turnip will soon present a new map where the US is “on top”, and state that this is the new official map of the world.
Something like this
The gold is a nice touch.
Doesn’t seem wise, the US depended on Canada for 60% of its crude oil last year…
they will need some freedom, you say?
Now you see why he’s trying to normalize the idea of annexation. Greenland has potential to be resource rich and Canada is resource rich.
I predict the next world war will happen on the cusp of smaller nations creating nuclear arsenals to defend their sovereignty.
By “resource rich” I assume you mean “One of the few habitable places on earth in 20 years.”
Most of Canada isn’t even habitable for weird Canadians. I live close to Maine, and there are some times of the year where you arne’t leaving home for a day or two until the snowplows dig everyone out. and our winters are MILD
That’s probably one reason he’d like to annex it then. All that crude would be ours.
Or they cut you off and you dont have the oil to mobilise your army against them…

And aluminium, and wood
The guy continues spewing bullshit and threatening every country in the world; if he keeps going, I won’t be surprised if he ends up in an “accident” in which no secret services agency was involved at all.
Because he can remain president indefinitely if America is at war.
Defenestration has yet to catch on here, but with his Russian ties, it’s practically a family tradition.
First Greenland then Canada, is the US becoming an imperialist dictatorship?
Becoming… lol we just skip the literal occupation with citizens and overt claiming part of it. We deliver “freedom” and install puppets where we deem necessary and have done so for practically forever.
Blowback is a pretty good podcast that goes in depth into a couple of major examples in our history of “intervention.”
Trying to make sure that his legacy will be “hardballing the US into oblivion”.
He is making sure every American product is boycotted.
A true champion of US isolationism!
His admiration for "strong’ leaders (dictators) starts to take shape. Supplying weapons to Ukraine to fight military aggression doesn’t seem appropriate when you can simply try to outdo Putin at his own game.
Julius Caesar did this… it is not a new pattern.
Trump is literally George Bush’s third term on crack, by doing this.
That’s unfair to crackheads.
