It’s a surreal time to be alive where a rich person kills an absurdly rich person, and the establishment is trying to vilify him in the court of public opinion and failing spectacularly.
even baring relative wealth mangione was not rich. He was not poor but he did not inherit a company or whatnot. he still worked for a living.
There’s hardly a middle class anymore. The massive number of people just struggling to get by often mistake the relative financial security of the middle class for wealth. Its the ceo’s and billionaires who have, slowly over time, shaved this prosperity away from the middle class and kept the value for themselves.
There is an article i read where someone who claims to know him well and went with him to vietnam said that he told them he had $6,000,000 from his family but that his family relationship was a sore spot/contentious.
Either way the will says he wont receive a trust if he is convicted of a violent crime so he abandoned his wealth to make a stand if he is indeed the one who made the claim adjustment for brian thompson.
He volunteered at his families nursing homes when he was growing up. So its likely the fact that his family was enriching themselves through insurance providers and providing sub adequate care to seniors that made him contemptuous of his family’s fortune. Tiffany cianci on youtube did a deep dive on his family’s business(es) before anyone else had any deets.
it amazes me that someone can imagine an extinction level event but apparently cannot imagine them dieing horribly in it.
I looked look up the Musk quote. The full quote is not better.
Musk made this statement during an interview at All Thing D’s D11 conference in May 2013. The exact spoken quote was, “If you think about the future of humanity, it’s going to fundamentally bifurcate in two directions, all life as we know it. Either it’s going to become multiplanetary, or it’s going to be confined to one planet, until some eventual extinction event.”

This is the one that’s also awful but about the economy.
“We have to reduce spending to live within our means,” Musk said. “And, you know, that necessarily involves some temporary hardship, but it will ensure long-term prosperity.”

It’s one thing to be the world’s richest and soon very likely to be the most politically powerful grifter. It’s another to publicly craft a narrative that he will steal everyone’s money and then leave them for dead.
I still have trouble figuring out how Reek fooled us for so long
