It’s a good game. Gunplay is satisfying and the game oozes atmosphere. It’s very much like the previous games in the series so they didn’t mess with the formula. A lot of returning characters (Sidorovich, Beard, Barkeep, Scar).

The latter half of the game quests can be a little buggy though, so it felt like that part was rushed to completion.

I thought it was good and fun but have decided to shelve it for a while to give the devs time to finish it. In its current state it feels similar to playing Fallout 4. I think once A-Live is fully implemented it will be a much more interesting game to play.

I played cyberpunk at release and it left a sour taste in my mouth, to the point that I don’t think I’ll ever replay cyberpunk (even though I understand that the game is largely fixed now). I think by holding off on playing Stalker 2 I’ll get to play something closer to the devs original vision of it without spoiliing the game for myself.

      Go back and play Cyberpunk!

My experience with that glow-up is exactly why I’m going to be waiting to go deep on a Stalker 2 playthrough.

The rough state of Stalker 2 reminded me a lot of Cyberpunk’s launch, so I’ve gone back to the playthrough that I started back when 2.0 came out. Still haven’t experienced Phantom Liberty or gotten to Act 2, be replaying everything that was janky at launch and getting to re-experience it as it should have been has been wonderful :)

I can totally understand being burned on Cyberpunk, but you should know that, since 2.0, it’s basically a completely new game mechanically. I’m pretty sure they overhauled the skill trees, and they added a police system.

Same. I really enjoyed what I played of it (~4 hours), but as one of the biggest fans of the franchise on this planet, I am torturing myself instead by postponing my first playthrough until A-life is properly implemented. It’s worth the wait. I’ve waited this long already. For now, I’ve gone back to my long-term Anomaly character and have been having a fucking blast.

I was locked into playing it until Indiana Jones came out. Now I’m glad I have something else to keep me occupied while GSC works on updates. I think in a couple months Stalker should be in a way better state.
