I am a little concerned that ten forward now is declaring war on fascism. I have created this community as insurance and to judge community interest.

I am tired of everyone going on and on about politics. Sure it was fine for election day but they have gone off the deep end. It is now an antiTrump circle jerk.

Star Trek shouldn’t be an excuse to push crazy political beliefs

What crazy political beliefs do you see being pushed there? I’m like genuinely baffled here

The ‘crazy political belief’ was that fascists are not welcome in the Star Trek community. That’s all. I said I’d ban people who said they voted for Trump in TenForward because they go against absolutely every single thing that Star Trek stands for. They said if I was serious about that then they weren’t going to engage in the community any longer because anything could be argued is something Trek stands for, even being pro-fascism. Something that is blatantly untrue. They were also making posts for the past few days, even before the election, about how Trump isn’t so bad and all politics is bad. That people need to get over Trump winning and just get along. Tolerance Paradox stuff.

If you have a bar and Nazis show up at the bar and you tolerate it then you now have a Nazi bar. I don’t play that game. This bartender punches Nazis.

It’s a crazy belief to say fascism is bad? I’m, like, utterly confused on how this is congruent with enjoying a show about a post-scarcity socialist utopia that promotes infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

I really don’t mean to badger the point, I just can’t wrap my head around someone saying “it’s bad to say fascism is bad” and liking Star Trek, a wildly left-wing property.

It’s a show about a buncha commies traveling around in a space ship solving sci-fi dilemmas and saying racism is abhorrent. They had a whole spin off show about how it’s okay to do some terrorism to fascists, they deserve it.

It kinda feels like you’re dancing around saying anything truly pertinent to the conversation

Anyway, I don’t think you have anything useful to contribute and I don’t think your “fascism friendly Star Trek community” is needed by anyone.

Reevaluate your choices, the bed you’ve chosen is full of Neo-Nazis.
