The Washington State legislature has historically been considered a part time job. There’s a short session one year and a long session the next year.

But realistically, it requires full time commitment year round. This means that only people who can already afford to live on a legislator’s salary have been able to run.

I think making this an actual full time job with a full time salary is a good thing, and will hopefully get more people to consider running.
