As AI deepfakes sow doubt in legitimate media, anyone can claim something didn’t happen.
Honestly, it’s not a bad thing. People were used to believe every single thing they saw. Now they are forced to verify information or least stop and think if it’s true.
Are they verifying anything?
It isn’t like propaganda is a new thing.
Some do, others don’t. Many people that care about truth, but were ignorant before, will have to do something about it since “AI” generated content is so prevalent now.
Except most people can’t be bothered to verify anything. They see a video on Ticktok and assume it is true
Too true.
See it here daily. Some Xitter fool gets screen capped saying “world tallest cat measured in Beijing at 6 feet tall”
… first. 5 comments “wow!” “That’s huge” “he’s taller than me ! “. “So cute “
The next 5 are like “fuck the chinese and their cat steroids”
Finally, some hours later, someone observes that it was a line from futurama, 6 years ago” ….but it doesn’t matter now, because everyone has moved on with their day, telling people about the huge cats in china
Some people just can’t be helped. But it will affect thinking population.
The problem though is it’s a bad thing cuz not everyone is skeptical, or on the flip side they’re too skeptical. I have a brother-in-law for whom literally every video is fake unless it agrees with him. Doesn’t matter if it was live on C-Span it still fake.
“Pics or it didn’t happen.”
(AI generates a picture of Biden wearing a mech suit fighting a Kaiju)
“All lies and jest Still, a man hears what he wants to hear And disregards the rest”
This is great news
reality is deeply unserious
