I agree, but I think it has to be admitted that the Wall was a massive fuck up. I understand a significant problem was brain drain, ie people educated by the state would then flee to the West to benefit from their skills. And I’m not sure how you fix that problem, but the Berlin Wall was a massive self-own and propaganda victory to the West, and there had to be a better way. If living standards were generally better in the East then immigration/emigration should have eventually levelled out.

Yeah I wouldn’t put it past them, especially with their renewed interest in semiconductor fabrication and reindustrailisation push. I’ve a plan to flee at least, thankfully I’ve dual citizenship with the ROI.
