The only asterisk I would add to this is that there are certain limits to interoperability (sorry about the @s for example I need to remember to manually delete them) so it requires patience and willingness to deal with that. Also for example I can’t title posts, am subject to my instance’s character limit, and can’t see your emojis or images without going offsite. @pooh @timconspicuous you need to connect to more instances over there. Yes you will find more than a few state department addled libs but that’s just more fodder for the dunk tank. I can tell you for damned sure there are plenty of more ideologically friendly, actually left people of various stripes on other Mastodon instances too.
