GenAI like any tool, from the steam engine to the internet can be used for good or for evil. If we only let capitalist mega-corporations control it, it will 100% be used to harm society and the climate for the befit of the rich
Lol. Neural networks are useful for signal processing, that’s so bold an innovative that nobody thought of it until 1943 when the first neural network was designed. That’s not to downplay the efforts of the people who made this happen but this article is acting like these massively useful ML applications like signal processing wouldn’t be possible without the generative AI for consumers and businesses that is responsible for these absurd power requirements and huge data centers, and that’s just patently false.
Those are the only two options. It is not possible that it just provides some benefits to a small subset of techology and industry like prior innovations.
Nope, it must be feast or famine.
