I saw a year ago a comment I often think about, which is that India’s economy, where a lot of call center and remote workers are, is “token-based”. LLMs are going to hurt their labor but they are also the best placed to profit off LLMs, having already many established consumers.
That’s a tongue in cheek way of saying that the output of these companies are similar to the output of LLM in that they convey a bit of understanding and a bit of information. “tokens” are the unit we use to measure the quantity of inputs and outputs LLMs produce and ingest.
India being #1 by a lot explains so much.
