Most people who use fidelity use it because their employer matches 401k investments into it… I’m honestly kind of amazed they haven’t dissolved given the rise of better self directed retirement fund options.

People don’t really want self directed funds.

One of the biggest ways employers have managed to get people to save properly for retirement was making it opt out and automatically ramping up the withdrawal rate over time. You still don’t have to do so, but most people can’t be bothered thinking about retirement in any way.

          Defaults are a powerful thing.

Unless you’re buying individual stocks, or investing in activist funds, you’re going to be putting money towards some kind of shitbaggery.

True, but do you want to be putting your funds with a company that thinks Twitter is a sound investment?

A few names that may need translation:

      • ARK - Cathie Wood’s fund, no surprises there
      • Kingdom Holdings - Saudi royals (along with Alwaleed Bin Talal)
      • Pershing Square - Bill Ackman’s fund (guy who made headlines recently for getting university presidents fired for not shutting down Palestinian protesters
      • Q-Tetris Holding - Qatari fund, not sure how connected to royals it is
      • VYC25 - UAE fund, not sure how connected to royals it is
      • Scott Nolan - founders fund (Peter Thiel) guy
      • X holdings - Elon Musk’s LLC for limiting his losses in this whole charade

Not an exhaustive list, didn’t look up all the names.

The Twitter cofounder previously backed the Tesla CEO in his takeover of the company but walked back his support earlier this year, telling a member on rival social media platform Bluesky, "It all went south.”

Did it Jack? You got to unload a limping dog for top dollar.

Most definitely. With the offer that Elon gave the only correct answer was accept it. For himself and stockholders.

To be fair, Twitter’ was always fueled by drama, and if nothing else, Musky sure has been sure to keep that tank full.

Twitter was actually dying before hand because it was completely irrelevant echo chamber. It survives because its now also a complexity irrelevant echo chamber, however, this time with popcorn worth drama.

If you are any where even remotely close to the political left and are still on that platform “clapping back” at idiots, you are part of the problem and giving Musk power.

Twitter is still a major source of information, a lot of media and news agencies refer to what is posted there. Calling it an irrelevant echo chamber is incorrect. For a lot of journalists, analysts, scientists, and experts in virtually every field Twitter is the main platform and it is the only way to follow them. I don’t know why people ignore that fact. Perhaps, due to ignorance.

Previously, high-profile investors like Fidelity have been connected with X, most notably because the investment vehicle’s filings implied a 72% drop in the company’s value since Musk took it over.

    Let it fucking burn.

Not sure if it’s a rhetorical question, but I’ll answer anyway.

That’s often when it is most useful. It alerts people that it may be an unknown, new, or fringe source. You don’t see them often because the bot helps people report remove them quickly.

Because one of the mods programmed the bot and is really proud of their accomplishment. Their ego has blinded them to the problems they are causing.

I agree that it’s good to be proud of your programming accomplishments. I also think it’s really fucked to abuse positions of power and ignore community input.

Here’s the thread discussing the issue.
