I submitted a tip with pictures of Trump and anti-choice signs all over my parents church, the property outside, as well as direct links to streamed sermons where the pastor is outright telling people if they vote Democrat they’re going to hell so be a good Christian and vote for trump.
Over a year after the abortion issue signs and nothing has come of it.
Fuck them…tax them out of existence
I remember George W. Bush specifically writing up an EO to IRS to cease enforcement of laws against non-profits getting political. Churches have the double advantage of getting minimum scrutiny for their tax-exempt status, which is much harder to maintain for other 501©(3) organization. Now a bunch of right-wing Christian nationalist PACs and activity fronts qualify themselves as churches.
So yeah, the damage far exceeds pastors getting to tell their congregations how to vote.
Of course they are.
There is even an unofficial holiday for it called Pulpit Freedom Sunday.
After the “church” of Scientology showed the IRS who runs things, I’m sure the unofficial policy became to ignore religious organizations completely.
