On X, political commentator Ed Krassenstein, a frequent Trump critic, commented on the change of opinion about polling numbers among the former president’s supporters.
“MAGA is breaking down. They are back to calling the polls fake just because they don’t reflect what they want them to say,” Krassenstein wrote. “It’s funny how they touted the polls when Trump was up.”
To be fair, before Biden stepped down all the neoliberals called polls fake. And as soon as they started showing Kamala in the lead they act like they’ve always trusted polls.
The far right of both parties are remarkably similar, and shouldn’t be running either party.
No they didn’t. I’ve literally never once experienced that except from a conservative who is losing.
“Fuck polls” is not the same as “polls are fake”. In one, it’s being suggested they’re not always a great data source so vote regardless. In the other, it’s suggested “they are made up to manipulate the public because everyone persecutes us.”
Nobody on the left was saying the polls were fake because they skewed left. They were saying the polls were unreliable because they skew right toward older voters who answer phone calls and polling questions. But also regardless polls aren’t votes and a lot of people sleep on politics until immediately before voting.
Polls generally are skewed towards older conservatives - millennials and younger would rather stab out their own eyes than answer a pollster.
That’s not how polls work. If they get disproportionately fewer responses from millennials, they weight their responses to account for the actual number of millennials. They don’t just give every responder equal weight and assume there are simply fewer millennials.
If done properly, yes. But even then, you can’t account for all the fundamental demographic biases in people who respond vs don’t. As always, the only poll that matters is the election.
It would be just peachy if You could give us some examples.
