    In what would is this required? I didn’t have to produce a single document to add my kids to benefits. Hell, I could have added the neighbor’s kids.

      When I was enrolling my child on my benefits for a state job (in the USA), they needed me to provide a birth certificate.

      In my private sector job, I only gave a name and relationship with no paperwork.

      Different states have different rules. It could have been through the work too which can do whatever it wants.

      Every time I’ve added my kids to my benefits, I’ve had to provide a social security number. But realistically, that’s the only documentation I had to provide other than their name and sex.
