Hugh mistake by whoever started the protest to have an end date for it. Now only a fraction of the ~8000 subs that planned to go blackout indefinitely has remained private. The protest has achieved nothing and Reddit will continue doing its things. Not to disregard the efforts but this is definitely not the right way to protest.

    There’s also a huge pile of important information that’s currently inaccessible. Permanent read-only would probably be better in general, because half the time when I search for an obscure question the only useful results are reddit posts from 2017 which I can’t view anymore.

      As I mentioned over there I believe this is worth trying even if Reddit could stop it just to serve them a PR defeat.
