…are you serious? That’s scary. I came to Lemmy because reddit has an AI bot that will find keywords, and ban you for contexts that were never being used. I literally threw that last part in as a sarcastic jab at reddit style modderating.
I kind of feel like if you’re a moderator of a community, you should be firmiliar with the source material you’re modding.
He’s been saying that for like 18ish months now. Given that most of their roster is 30s and 40s, a lot of their dads are dead from natural causes. So he says that to literally EVERYONE. There’s even a compilation on youtube, but it all started with Nick Wayne, because it was supposed to be a sympathetic story. Then Christian Cage goes on and on for weeks about how his dad is dead.
Maybe…follow the source material before being a mod?
A quick clarification, since you instantly assumed the worst: I never volunteered to be a mod. Back when we started last year on kbin, I was made a mod because I was the second most active user. The founder basically threw me (and the most active user, who has since moved on) the keys to the kingdom and left never to return.
I moderate this community because I love pro wrestling in many forms, pure and simple. It’s got fuck all to do with power or ego.
Then I take back what I said about not knowing your stuff.
I was banned on reddit for a post on /r/Cleveland. A guy had his bike stolen. Somehow he had pictures of the guy. Like he took face to face pictures with his cell phone. Then he gave the guy the keys to his bike to ride by himself.
Everyone in the thread was essentially mocking him for being an idiot. Which he was. But I decided to just make a joke. I said “Hey, I had a guy that looks like him steal MY bike! Except this was in 1990, so this guy is too young to actually be him. Maybe it’s his son, ya know? Keeping it in the family business.”
I don’t know what triggered automod, but similiar things had been happening since I declined their early IPO offering. Then that message got me banned. So I came to Lemmy to avoid that type of behavior from mods.
I threw the last little “disclaimer” in more for my own amusement. A jab at reddit. But then you replied, and I’m like “Did I seriously almost just get banned for the same shit here???”
I may be a little paranoid, and have strong opinions on automods, or mods who ban without context.
We don’t have automod here. As long as it stays manageable under Geek and me, it’s just the two of us keeping the peace here. Worst case, if something seems “off”, we’ll probably just ask you to clarify what you meant rather than ban you outright. As long as there’s no hate speech or harassment/bullying, you should be alright.
Oh, I wouldn’t do anything like deliberate hate speech towards other users…unless Ray Rowe or George Clooney happen to be users here. In which case, all bets are off.

As the owner of this community, you nor anyone else will ever be banned without context. I have the filter of a 90 year old who lost all the fucks they had to give by age 20. If you fuck up bad enough to be banned you will absolutely be told why and how you fucked up in as many choice words as possible so as to leave no doubt lmao.
Really wish TNA were still the joke they were 10 years ago, so I could say some sarcastic joke like “Dixie Carters World Championship reign was more important and more relevant than Roman Reigns was!”
I don’t even know if she ever was world champion. I just know she was an on screen tv character of authority at the same time Russo was writing.
So I ASSUME it happened, and I also assume she somehow gifted it to Hogan.
GeekFTW: “MORE RELEVANT THAN ROMAN REIGNS CHAMPIONSHIP REIGN??? MORE IMPACTFUL TO PRO WRESTLING??? OH THIS GUY IS SOOOOOOOO BANNED!!!”
Amazingly, neither held the top title in TNA/iMPACT at any point, even via shenanigans. That being said TNA is actively striving to be the joke they were 10 years ago so…fingers crossed! lmao
God damn. Thats just a whole NEW level of pathetic, when even Hulk Hogan doesn’t want your world title. I assume he had creative control, and even he was like “Nah. I don’t need to be assosiated with this belt…”
He’s probably consoling his adopted son, Nick Wayne. This time of year is always hard on him…because his father’s DEAD!
(mods, this is a reference to a catchphrase used on AEW programming, not me promoting death)
I’m glad you pointed this out, I was reaching to grab my ban hammer. lol
we dont call it a ban hammer we call it a van hammer
I was actually debating in my head what would be the wrestling equivalent of the ban hammer.
Personally, I’m thinking “future endeavor”.
or the greco roman hammer lock :)

Lmao hell no, I’m not serious. Jeebus.

True, very true, Christian is a much better father than Nick Wayne’s deadbeat dad.
