Yeah the inability of the people around me to join the protests is so frustrating to me. They acknowledge that something is going terribly wrong in Palestine but they don’t dare being part of protests that are being wrongly framed as antisemitic or violent. At the same time they romanticise previous student protests.
Almost all accusations of antisemitism I’ve seen cited by the media amount to “Stop the genocide of Palestinians.”
I know there are some real examples and I’m very much against any form of bigotry, but come on…
I have a Jewish aunt, and she’s saying the same damn thing.
There are literally 0 cases of actual antisemitism during student protests in my country. Jews are very welcome and form a large share of the protesters at the encampments. But to most news outlets chanting “from the river to the sea” is antisemitic.
