It would be more hurtful to not use reddit at all. Lower user count will mean less advertisers willing to pay for their ads on reddit.

Yes, this. They are intensly watching the daily user count and other metrics.
Probably won’t hurt them any more than using a 3rd party app did. Which is to say, not much.
normally, their app is plagued with ads and custom icons are locked. I’ve used the official app patched with revanced and that makes it usable, but still sucks, especially with videos. I’m trying to view and post more content here instead.
