Really pretty and crafted a truly wonderful chill vibe. Excellent characterization for all of our mains. Going in, I was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t be able to fully follow this because I don’t drink alcohol (it upsets my stomach and also tastes gross) and don’t know anything about mixed drinks, but it turned out fine. I’m eager to see more from our cast and have a nice, comfy time. Ultimately I think the show could sink or swim based on how interesting the plot ends up being once it kicks in, but I’m hopeful.
Overall, I give it a 4/5
Attention cocktail mixing nerds: Your anime has arrived!
The Japanese ethos of perfectionism, kodowari rears its head in a tiny bar in a basement.
A highball so perfect, it transports our female protagonist to another dimension…
I’ve heard a little bit of the cocktail specialty ice thing before
Thanks for the videos!
The process of freezing and thawing ice can be extraordinarily complicated in some settings. In my professional life, I often have to do studies on how the products I work with (pharmaceuticals) freeze and thaw to assess the potential negative impacts to the product. In fact, just the other day I was reading a paper about modeling the process (pdf link).
It’s interesting to see some of the same controlled-rate freezing techniques we use in pharma applied to a different field (cocktails in this case). Similarly, I always find it interesting when freeze drying is applied to foods since that is another process that I work with often (we call it lyophilization).
I know I knew this title but not sure I read / watched it until I saw the name Eden Hall again.
The source manga started in 2004, 20 years ago. There was also an anime adaptation in 2006 and a TV drama adaptation in 2011. This anime is a new adaptation, starting from the beginning with some new arrangements it seems (I did not remember the story and had to check the manga again).
I liked this first episode and will be looking forward for more.
I really liked this first episode. Really chill vibes so far. I suspect that our protagonist bartender has some deeper story that the very end of the episode alludes to, so I am looking forward to finding out more about that.
So far this show gives me a lot of iyashikei vibes, in a good way. I am looking forward to see where it goes. As for a screenshot, maybe this (@rikka@ani.social:
