    looks like you making tempeh.

If its your first time, the brown rice flower cake w/ vermiculite approach is pretty much guaranteed, and much simpler (if lower yield). Regardless, green mold is goona get you so simpler/ more modular better.

I will definitely try different methods after this, for now this is just a pre-made kit from a local company (I’m in Denver, CO). I’m saving your comment so I can research and learn more, Thank you!

yeah the brown rice flower is pretty bulletproof but is small yield and doesn’t scale. it’s been around since the 90s at least from the old school CC forums. tbh the cost of all the gear isn’t worth it if you just going for personal mycological research purposes: 😉😜👀. Seems much more straightforward to just get a kit shipped and take it from there.

Best of luck on your journey! I find the pre-made grow bags to be super reliable, personally, so long as 1) you know your syringe is clean, and 2) you stick to some very basic rules for cleanliness.

Though they do tend to yield… A lot. I tried (and failed) a fair few different methods (Uncle Ben’s was the worst for me, but it gets a lot of praise widely – and that’s for good reason! My luck is just… Contrary. 😂) and eventually I settled on bags… I inoculated 3, because I was anticipating more failure… Instead I got 3-4 amazing flushes out of each, and I don’t know what to do with all the fruits of my labor. 😅
